Job Spotlight Teacher

What do they do?


Teachers are responsible for educating their students (young children, youths and adults), getting them to a pre-determined level of understanding or ability in chosen subjects.


If you like people, are patient, great at explaining simple or complex concepts in lots of different ways, and if you’d like to make a positive difference in people’s lives, then you could be a teacher.



  • Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to students (in-line with syllabus or other guidelines)
  • Test, mark, grade and report on students achievements, or areas of concern
  • Accommodate the learning needs of a variety of students
  • Mentor students
  • Monitor and regulate the behaviour of students
  • Implement the school code of conduct and ethos
  • Organise and engage in projects and activities outside of the classroom for the benefit of the school community

Bachelor of Education Degree – specialising in Early Childhood Education, Primary or Secondary Teaching
