Each year Austin Health is pleased to offer placements to Secondary School students. This provides a valuable opportunity to promote Health professions to the youth of today who may become your workforce of the future. It also gives students the chance to observe the Health industry in action first hand, and to learn about available jobs within the Health industry.
Secondary Student Placements
Austin Health partners with Banyule Nillumbik Workplace Learning (BNWL) to facilitate our placement program and ensure successful placements. There are two programs available;
1. Work Experience: Typically targeting Year 10 students, placements are offered in one week blocks only.
2. Structured Workplace Learning: Targeting mainly Year 11-12 students. These placements allow students enrolled in the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) or Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs to acquire skills and knowledge within an industry setting. This enables students to apply theory learnt in the classroom to a practical setting.
Placements are available to Victorian Secondary students aged 15 or older at the time of the placement.
Limited placements are offered and placement dates vary across departments throughout the year (ie. Placements are not available in all departments or at all times of the year).
Applications are processed according to order of receipt and popular dates book out *very* early. It is highly recommended that students nominate more than one area of interest, and that students indicate all dates they are available to enable an alternative preference to be offered in the event their first preference is unavailable.
Secondary school students who wish to apply for;
- Work Experience
- Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)
are requested to complete all sections of the application form below and return to Banyule Nillumbik Workplace Learning at email@example.com
*NB. Students must be over the age of 15 at the time of their placement. Placements are available in one week blocks only and limited to one placement per student, per year.
