This Red Cross course is specifically designed to equip 11–15 year olds the basic knowledge and skills necessary to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies using basic life support measures including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
The specific topics covered by the course include first aid principles and priorities, recognition of injury or illness, recognition and management of the unconscious person, principles of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), recognition and management of the victim of choking, asthma and epilepsy, shock, control of bleeding, care of wounds, pressure bandage, burns and scalds, soft tissue injuries and fractures, bites and stings and poisons.
There are no pre-requisites required to complete this course, and they’re carried out in locations across South Australia. There’s even an online option if you can’t make it to any of the centres.
