$1.1million’s worth of funding has been allocated to FedUni TAFE’s Horsham campus, from the Victorian Labor Government’s Regional and Specialist Training Fund.
Hoping to deliver skills that match jobs in-demand in the Grampian and Wimmera regions, the funding will provide two traineeship qualifications – the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, and Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
At the moment there’s not enough skilled staff, which is impacting on the ability to provide services in childcare centres, kindergartens, out-of-school-hours and holiday programs.
Existing Early Childhood Educators will be able to up-skill by taking their diploma. Current high school students wishing to study early childhood education and care (ECEC), will be able to do their Certificate III.
So, if you’re not sure what career you’d like to do, but you love children and can see yourself in the early education system, maybe this is an option to investigate.
If you thought it couldn’t get any better, from 2020, these courses will also be added to the Free TAFE list as well.
