Take Uni units at high school

Some Universities have programs that allow high school students to take University Units whilst you’re still at high school.

They’re designed to do a few things:

  • Encourage you to pursue a tertiary education
  • Get a taste for a course and see whether you like it (or not)
  • Ease your transition from Year 12 into Uni

Some of the courses will even give you credits towards your first year at Uni, that could mean you have less work to do once you get there.

Programs in Victoria include:

Extension Program at University of Melbourne – Designed for high achieving students looking for a challenge. It’s free to join and through the program you’ll be able to study university subjects alongside your final year of high-school. It’s FREE to join, could boost your ATAR and earn credit towards your degree. It’ll also look fantastic on your resume.

Dates for the 2020 cohort haven’t been published yet, but last year applications opened in mid-September, so keep an eye on the website. Applications closed in mid-December and Semester 1 classes start at the beginning of March.
