If you’re interested in a travel experience that’s not all about tourism, there are companies out there who can organise trips where you can combine adventure with meaningful and real-world work experience.
You can access international internships, TEFL courses and volunteer placements, across a wide range of professional fields and helping out with a variety of projects for NGO’s in over 40 countries.
Global Nomadic are an organisation with offices in the UK, USA and here in Australia, they’ve been in the business for 10 years and have helped over 10,000 people learn new skills whilst making a valuable contribution to communities.
You won’t get paid, in fact you’ll have to pay for the experience since most of the organisations you’ll work with can’t afford to host you. You’ll pay for travel and expenses while you’re there, in return you’ll get mentoring and hands-on experience.
Eligibility criteria does apply, for most projects you’ll have to be 18 or older for example – so make sure you read the small print before you sign up for anything.
