At Study Work Grow, we’re firm believers in setting goals.
Because when you take the time to create goals, they go from pipe dreams to inspiration, and with a little more work – they become your reality. Goal setting is linked with higher achievement.
We’ve found some stats that might change your mind:
Studies have shown that people who think of a goal have a 10% chance of achieving it. Doesn’t sound like much does it? But it’s 10% more than if you don’t even think of one.
Another study in 2015 by psychologist Gail Matthews showed that those who write down their goals are 33% more successful in completing those goals than if you just think it.
If you tell someone about your goal, the chance of achieving it leaps to 65%. That’s pretty simple, but effective.
Making a time to meet with the person you told, just once down the track, to discuss your goal and how it’s going could increase that figure to 95%.
Ready to set some goals now?
Here’s our hack
We’ve created a goal generator that could help you:
- Set goals that are realistic and achievable (how much do you want it, how compatible is it with your lifestyle)
- Refine your goals by making them detailed and specific, this helps you to visualise them clearly and that can help you tick off your goals more quickly and easily
- Plan how you’ll achieve your goals, break them down into milestones that will keep you on track while keeping your main aim in sight
- Be accountable, the generator will help you nail down target dates that you can put in calendars and set up reminders for, helping you to stay motivated and working towards your goal
It also asks you to add someone who to add who will be updated about your goals and the time frames you’ve nominated, with the aim that they can help you to stay on track
