FirstGEN at the University of Adelaide

The University of Adelaide’s FirstGEN program is for Year 12 students who are the first in their family to attend university. The aim of the program is to build high school students’ university knowledge and prepare them for a bright future.

Program sessions include:

  • interactive Q&A sessions about key university concepts
  • sessions with students and their parents to discuss the key university concepts
  • sessions planning Open Day schedules
  • SATAC application workshops
  • university orientation sessions

Key benefits for participating students in this program include:

  • One-on-one student support from the University of Adelaide
  • Broadening student awareness, understanding and confidence in regards to their attendance at university
  • Students are able to share knowledge with their friends and family, building their cultural capital
  • Students feel fully equipped to enter the next phase of their education
