UAC have just released their most recent Student Lifestyle Report – they’ve asked 13,000 of last year’s Year 12s about their interests, dreams, hopes and intentions.
It’s a really interesting report, and well worth a read for anyone who supports students (or sells to students – there’s a whole section on their favourite brands etc…) It’s also worth keeping in mind that all these students applied for university, so it’s not representative of the entire Year 12 cohort.
Some of the key takeaways:
- 60% of students really want to be on campus, and they see university as a social opportunity as well as an educational one
- Reputation is really important when choosing a university, even more important than graduate outcomes, cost, or global outcomes
- Mental health is a key concern for around half of all students, and they’re also concerned about their finances and finding work
- Three quarters (75%) of students are looking at studying full-time, and only 4% are considering a Gap Year
