The Victorian Government has recently announced they will be providing financial support to nearly 10,000 students who want to study nursing and midwifery.
Any domestic student enrolling in a nursing or midwifery course in 2023 or 2024 will receive a scholarship of up to $16,500 to cover course costs.
“If you’re in Year 12 and you’ve been thinking about studying nursing or midwifery – go for it. We’ve got your HECS fees covered.”
– Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews
Students will receive $9,000 while they study and the remaining $7,500 if they work in Victorian public health services for two years.
They are also offering scholarships for postgraduate courses and enrolled nurses looking to upskill.
If you’re in Victoria and thinking of becoming a nurse or midwife, this could be the perfect time.

Hi Marina,
You still need to apply for and be accepted into a nursing or midwifery degree before you can apply for a scholarship. Different universities have their own entry requirements. You can read more about the scholarship program and how to apply here.
Does this apply for older people and do you have to have done year 12
