When Ron Sylvester started gathering items for his school careers newsletter back in 2006, he sometimes spent 2 – 3 days each week finding things for his students.
After colleagues in his local careers’ forum saw how good his newsletters were, many offered to pay him for it just to save time. And with that, ‘MHSCareers’ was born. Lucy joined Ron in 2009, and took MHSCareers to every state and territory in Australia.
In 2017, Lucy took the helm and quickly transformed the humble careers newsletter service into the holistic program it is today.
With a new name to reflect our modern approach and a suite of new offerings like guides, online tools, and student memberships, Study Work Grow quickly spread across Australia.
And we’re not done yet.

Here are the people who strive to make your day easier at school
Lucy Sattler
CEO + Founder
Lucy always knew that one day she’d be involved in careers. She followed in the footsteps of her dad, Ron Sylvester, and started out by hanging Career Bullseye Posters in her dad’s office during the school holidays.
Lucy is the driving force behind the growth and development of Study Work Grow, knowing that Careers Advisors need a quality source of info they can depend on.
She’s worked in fried chicken, graduated from ADFA, directed fighter pilots in the RAAF, raised three humans, and worked in careers since 2009.
She’s most of the way through a Master of Educational Studies at the University of Queensland, holds a Bachelor of Arts (Politics & History) from UNSW and a Grad Dip in Creative Arts from JCU.
Rob Sattler
Chief Engagement Officer
Having studied Civil Engineering at USQ for two years, he took a gap year (that ended up lasting 20+ years).
A consummate IT professional, Rob watched the dot.com boom come and go, and sold high powered educational networks to Queensland Government institutions long before the NBN existed.
He’s been known to earn a crust driving tractors and baking bread, but has a deep passion for communication and helps the team ensure their message is getting across.
Rob’s in charge of keeping our resources engaging for students (and their parents), and is working towards an MBA…

We don’t have investors to answer to, nor outside influences that direct what we share or how much we charge, which means more value for schools.
Based in Australia
Actually, we're based in Far North Queensland, although for many years we were based in Sydney. We only spend a few hours a week sitting under the palm trees.
Active in the Industry
We're members of Australia's peak Career Associations, including CDAA, CAANSW, CEAV, and QGCA. We also support local youth programs and community transitions coordinators.
