Top 5 must-dos on the day
Get your hands on an Open Day bag as soon as you arrive on campus. Our student ambassadors will be handing these out at all of the main entry points. Not only will it be your saving grace when you’re looking for somewhere to store the free merch you pick up throughout the day, you’ll be lost without the ‘Open Day Pocket Map’ found inside.
Spend some time with our academics in the ‘Plan your degree’ zone. Here, we’ll give you the low down on our degree structure and let you know the best time to combine study with travel.
Once you’ve gained an understanding of what your 3-4 years on campus might actually look like, make your way over to the course advice centres. Not only can we recommend courses suited to your interests, we’ll explain how you have the flexibility to design your own degree and follow your interests across various disciplines.
University is more than what happens in the classroom. Spend your last Saturday in August with interactive humanoid robots, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, and a side of virtual reality. If these don’t scream ‘fun’, we’re sure you’ll find a combination of hands-on faculty activities that do.
While you’re on campus be sure to check out some of the 200+ clubs and societies. Not only might you make friends with someone who shares the same interests as you, they’ll be a familiar face on your first day of uni.
Whether you’re looking for information on a particular area of interest, undergraduate scholarship opportunities or the basics that need to be considered when moving to Sydney, we have a mini-lecture for you – in fact we have over 170! Don’t forget to organise your day by adding these to your personalised schedule.
Take a campus tour and check out where you could be studying. From labs to lecture theatres and heritage-listed buildings, our student ambassadors will give you an insider’s look at our Camperdown Campus.
If you’re considering living on-campus, an accommodation tour is also worth adding to your schedule.
When an event is only held once a year you know it’s not to be missed, and Open Day is no exception. Here are some tips that will help your day run smoothly and prepare you for university.
If you’re getting off at Central, hitch a ride with us. We’ll have free shuttle buses running every 10 minutes between Railway Square and our main campus, from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
For those of you who prefer getting around on two wheels, we’ve got plenty of secure bike racks on campus that have your name all over them.
We’re not discouraging you to spend some time alone on campus – it’s the only way you’ll truly get a feel for a university. In saying this, no one’s stopping you from flying solo the whole day either.
A pen to jot down details or make some notes never goes a miss either.
