UOW | Philosothon

The University of Wollongong Philosothon will give students from Years 9 – 11 the opportunity to explore philosophical questions through collaborative discourse.

A Philosothon is a competition in which school students engage with great philosophical questions. Students will gather in small communities of inquiry and critically engage and collaborate with each other, developing ideas and weighing alternate perspectives on philosophical problems. Points will be awarded by a judge based on performance in critical thinking, collaboration and civility.

Each student will be provided with stimulus materials for three separate philosophical problems, and will use these materials to develop four questions related to each problem. These questions will form the basis for group discussion.
