Are you interested in getting in to mining so you can support your community and mob in the future?  We have paid traineeship opportunities across our Pilbara operations and we’re inviting the Traditional Owners on the land where we operate and other local Pilbara-based Aboriginal people to apply.

ATAS is a programme designed to help you enter the mining industry without prior qualifications or experience. All you need is enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a high regard for working safely.  As a trainee you will receive quality on the job training, coaching and mentoring from experienced employees.  You’ll also gain a nationally accredited qualification to help you build your future career.

These opportunities can be residential so you can stay on country, or you can fly in fly out from Perth or other WA regional locations (depending on the role), with various rosters on offer. We have the following roles available for our next intake and during your application process you will be given the opportunity to choose your preference:

  • Trainee Lab Technician (Residential in Dampier or Karratha): responsible for preparing, organising, conducting and recording laboratory tests using a range of tools and equipment
  • Trainee Fixed Plant Operator (Residential in Dampier or Karratha): responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the fixed plant
  • Trainee Supply Officer (Residential in Dampier, Karratha or Paraburdoo and FIFO from Perth, Geraldton, Canarvon, Busselton or Broome): responsible for receiving, handling, storing and dispatching parts and equipment
  • Trainee Trades Assistant (FIFO from Perth, Busselton or Broome): responsible for helping and supporting tradespeople
  • Trainee Administrator (FIFO from Perth, Geraldton, Albany, Busselton or Carnarvon): responsible for completing daily administrative site tasks to support mine site operations
  • Trainee Blast Crew Operator (Residential in Pannawonica): responsible for priming and loading blast holes, marking up drill patterns and checking drilling depths
