The Lucy Beeton Scholarship aims to provide a financial incentive/support for Aboriginal people to undertake a teaching qualification at the University of Tasmania.

Value

$3,000 per year for up to three years for Bachelor of Education. $4,500 per year for up to two years for Master of Teaching. To retain this award, recipients are required to achieve a minimum Pass result in all units studied each semester.

Eligibility Criteria

Available to commencing and current students who are members of the Tasmanian Aboriginal community and who are either commencing in or continuing study in a Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching in Semester 1, 2020. To be eligible, students must identify as an Aboriginal person and be accepted by the community in which they live or have lived (applicants must meet the Tasmanian State Government requirements of Eligibility for Tasmanian Government Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs and services); and be a current resident of Tasmania.
