SATAC | SA & NT Tertiary Admissions Centre


SATAC processes applications for many of the courses offered by its participating institutions.

SATAC also administers the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) for applicants applying for undergraduate courses under a special entry program, and processes applications for selected equity scholarships at University of South Australia.

Important Dates

1 August – Applications open for 2023

30 September – Applications fees increase

30 September – Final closing date for Medicine (including Bonded Medical Program), Dental Surgery, Oral Health and Veterinary Bioscience at the University of Adelaide

28 November – Final closing date for Creative Arts (Drama) at Flinders University

1 December – Equal consideration closing date for all semester 1 courses excluding those with final closing dates

1 December – Final closing date for Clinical Sciences/Doctor of Medicine at Flinders University; closing date for Clinical Sciences, Midwifery, Nursing and Paramedicine at Charles Darwin University

4 January 2023 – Change of preference deadline for Semester 1 offers

12 January 2023 – Main offer round

25 January 2023 – Second January offer round

2 February 2023 – Further offer rounds emailed every Tuesday and Thursday until 9 March 2023

Application Information

Step 1
Register with SATAC – you’ll need your registration/candidate number (you school or board of studies should be able to provide this), and they recommend you complete the application on a PC.


Step 2

List up to SIX preferences – to maximise your chances of getting an offer, list all six preferences.

Remember – you can change these later.


Step 3
Submit your application and pay the processing fee, and don’t forget to upload any supporting documents.

Admission Criteria

Year 12 qualifications are a common admission pathway to most undergraduate courses offered through SATAC.

If you have completed year 12 and you have never studied at higher education (e.g. university) level, you will be eligible to use the results of your studies to apply for most courses.

Interstate Applicants

Any domestic applicants can apply for partnering universities in SA or the NT through SATAC.

For SA students wanting to apply for university in other states, they must apply through the relevant TAC or directly to the institution.

Educational Access Schemes

Adjustment Factors allow SATAC to add points to your aggregate (a maximum of 9 points – 5 points under the Universities Equity Scheme, and either 2 or 4 points under the Universities Language, Literacy and Mathematics Scheme) to boost your Selection Rank via:

  • the Universities Equity Scheme
  • the Universities Language, Literacy and Mathematics Scheme

Equity Scholarships are university funded and targeted to undergraduate students who can provide proof of financial need.

Do I need to provide supporting documents?

You may be required to supply supporting documents for your qualifications if SATAC is unable to verify your results on your behalf. This may be because you have completed a TAFE/VET qualification or studied overseas. The online application will tell you if you need to submit supporting documents for the qualifications you have claimed.


I need to sit the STAT (Special Tertiary Admissions Test), how do I apply?

You can apply for a STAT sitting as part of your undergraduate application. The online instructions will step you through the process. If you’ve already submitted an application but didn’t book a STAT sitting, contact SATAC for assistance.


I have forgotten my login details, how can I retrieve them?

You can retrieve your username and reset your password from the login screen in My Application. You will need to enter the email address you provided to SATAC.
